Lost Wyoming Barn

As I drove through some fairly remote parts of Wyoming on my way to Jackson Hole I passed a sign on the side of the highway that read “Scenic Vista”. There was a dirt road covered in about a foot of snow that was next to a river that was mostly covered in ice with just a small section in the middle flowing. I knew after passing that sign that I was going to have to turn around and go see what there was. I parked on the side of the road and hiked down the road a little way where I came to an old abandoned house that was boarded up and a falling down barn. I spent some time walking around and photographing the barn, I even found some old, rusted game traps in the snow near the bank of the river.

Before I started to walk back to the car I noticed some footsteps in the snow leading back into the woods on what seemed to be a path or trail. I followed the path to its end but could see some sort of structure out in the woods about a quarter of a mile back. I decided to make my way through the brush and snow and go check it out. In the end I found this old small barn. The entrance obstructed by trees and brush; I could tell it had been some time since this barn had seen any use. Inside there was a hole dug in the dirt floor and some of the structure had started to collapse. It was a treat to be able to photograph what some of old Wyoming looked like in what is now taken over by the woods!
